The summer heat is returning this week after most of the summer being fairly nice so far. No thunderstorms forecast over the next ten days, only hot sunny days. But September is only 38 days away so fall is not too far off.

It is easier to cope with summer heat mentally when it does not really kick in until the end of July. I have been spending most of my summer inside in the air-conditioning anyway due to rehabbing my knee and not being very mobile. Coping with recovery from two surgeries has meant spending time with Jesus and trusting him for outcomes.

Coping with a difficult situation makes me think of Paul being in jail in Philippi in Acts 16.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

While they were praying, an earthquake shook the jail and their chains fell off.

I have not experienced an earthquake as a result of praying and listening to worship music, but I can say it has made a huge difference for me and my attitude. Even at physical therapy it has helped my attitude to have spent time with Jesus in the morning. It may be hard to believe, but I share jokes at physical therapy.

For me it is about more than coping, it is about thriving spiritually and mentally while going through difficult times.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
