2nd Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
These verses are a theme for me in my life. They are part of the reason I wrote my book Jesus Understands Trauma. Having experienced healing from past trauma in my relationship with Jesus, my desire is to help others experience that healing as well.

God gives me opportunities to share his comfort with refugees, My experience is different from theirs, but I understand and can empathize with them. This past year that has mostly been with my Ukrainian friends. They fled the war in Ukraine. It is my privilege to be a part of their healing journey.
This evening, I have an opportunity to share about how Jesus helped me in my healing journey at my church. It will part of a four evening series dealing with mental health issues like depression and anxiety. My session is the first session. Normally I teach at the college in the evenings, but thanks to fall break, I can provide this session this evening.
The reason I say healing journey is because even though Jesus has taken me to blessings in life such as teaching and ministry and Jesus has brought considerable healing in my soul and spirit, the memories are still there. So each day presents a choice, focus on Jesus and the present or focus on the memories and let them bring me down. My choice each morning is to spend time with Jesus to start my day. By doing so, I choose Jesus over the memories.
I can truly attest to the fact that God provides comfort.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
