With the cooler weather for today, warm for a few days, then cooler weather again, the roller coaster of Nebraska weather is something that is normal for me. Woke up realizing we had a freeze last night.

The cooler weather makes me think of books. Books? Yes, books, Nothing quite like reading a book on a cool rainy day, or in a few months a winter day. My book collection is mostly theology books. It has been a while, a long while, since I sat down with a fiction book or a novel.

My all time favorite is Lord of the Rings. For Christian ones, I liked the Perretti books.

So my fellow bloggers, please share with me a fiction book or series you like. Please leave out anything romance related. Romantic genre is of no interest to this old bachelor. 🙂

With your recommendation, please also share your blog link. It is a blogging party.

Thank you for reading.

  1. I’m more of a non-fiction reader, but have read most of the Peretti books. I even met him in person once, at a book signing event.

    1. Cool you got to meet him. I liked his darkness books but his book Prophet I liked even more

  2. My favorite book/movie is ‘Gone With The Wind’. There IA a bit of romance but more War. By Margaret Mitchell

    1. Thank you for sharing 🙂

  3. sorry if you think this isn’t Christian studies of relationships, but Jane Austin’s Pride & Prejudice

    1. I read that a long time ago. It is a good book

  4. I love sitting down with a cup of coffee and a good book! 📚☕️ Have you read anything by Ted Dekker? If you like Peretti, I think you’ll like his books too.

    1. Thank you little sister. I will check him out

  5. My favorite books are biblical and historical fiction. Brock & Bodie Thoene are my favorites in both with Francine Rivers biblical historical series.

    1. Those sound interesting thanks

      1. Both write in other genres too so watch for which are which.

  6. One of my fave historical fiction writers is Francine Rivers and I particularly loved the ‘Mark of the Lion’ Series, set in Early Christian Roman world.

Often my favourite story – book or film, is the last one I encountered, which for me was Natasha Woodcraft’s Biblical fiction about the world’s first family!! My review for that is here: https://dawnfanshawe.wordpress.com/2024/10/15/books-review-the-wanderer-scorned-and-the-wanderer-reborn-by-natasha-woodcraft/
