You are safe now is a phrase we hear in movies or TV shows when someone is rescued. In real life, you are safe now applies to the danger no longer posing a threat, but feeling safe after is another issue.

Feeling safe is an issue for anyone who receives counseling to help heal from the trauma. The person needs to feel safe to open up and share about the trauma.

Feeling safe is an issue for anyone who has been through a struggle to be able to open up about it with a friend, a pastor, anyone they confide in.

The path of healing, the path of recovery, is a path that can take time, patience, and courage on the part of the person on that journey. It can also feel like a lonely path at times.

Jesus invites us to let him join us on that journey, on that path. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Jesus wants to join us on our healing journey, on our recovery journey, and walk the path with us. He loves us so much that he laid down his life for us and defeated death for us. He loves us so much that he lived in this life as a human being and experienced the hardships of this life, so he would become our Sympathetic High Priest that we can come to to find grace and mercy in our time of need.

The reason I wrote my book Jesus Understands Trauma is in hope that it will help others to experience the healing that we can receive from Jesus joining us on the path of recovery. In his presence, we are safe to receive healing.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.
