Talk about POWER NAPS. Recovering from the crud that has been going around has been draining. Friday after I taught my classes, I returned home and felt a nap was in order. It ended up being from 2:30 to 7:30 and I still slept a full night.

Yesterday was a repeat of long nap time but only four hours. So now I feel like I can relate with Elijah when he had a long nap under the tree. In 1st Kings 19

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

Elijah was mentally, emotionally, physically drained. He fell asleep. The angel came and fed him and Elijah slept some more.

Sometimes our bodies need rest. God knows this. He created us with physical bodies. As my pastor once said, “sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is take a nap.”

We are not called to be super human. We are called to be human beings who live in relationship with God. Part of that is taking care of our physical bodies. That is something I do not always pay attention to, and then it hits.

Today is better. I am at New Breath Church now after having been at my home church this morning.

How is your Sunday?

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  2. Napping really helps heal the body, when we’re unwell it’s best to rest. Hope you feel better soon.

    1. on the mend thank you 🙂

  3. Matt, I am pleased that these power naps restore your strength. While my wife makes frequent use of a power nap, I’m more into the refreshment of a cat nap. Best wishes and God’s peace as the rest of this week moves ahead.

    1. Power nap or cat nap I welcome both 🙂
