First off a Birthday Weekend Shout Out to Dawn of drawingclosertochrist.com. Hope you have a blessed birthday weekend little sister. 🙂

This past week in one of my classes, I explained the difference between used to and be used to-am used to, is used to, are used to. I explained that be used means something is normal for me but not necessarily means I like something. To practice we asked what kind of weather we are used to. No surprise my students all said warm weather because they are all from warmer climates.

When they asked me, my answer was any kind of weather because I grew up in Nebraska. We all laughed. But there is truth behind that answer and the coming week will be a great example.

We will have a few days that overnight will be well below zero farenheit with snow showers. Then by next weekend we will be in the high 50s farenheit. Just part of our fun rollercoaster weather here.

Life itself can feel like a rollercoaster ride at times with all of the ups and downs. I know I have certainly had my share of ups and downs. One day in the future, I will get off this rollercoaster ride when Jesus calls me home. But until then, it is so comforting to remember that Jesus is always with me, that God is in control, and that God is working in my life.

Having Jesus with me also makes the roller coaster ride of life more of a fun adventure if I keep it all in the perspective that Jesus is with me and calling me to share his love with others in any situation I am in.

Again Happy Birthday Weekend to Dawn.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. Amen, brother! Keeping it all in perspective. What a rollercoaster in weather–and in life! It’s a great analogy, Matt. Happy birthday to Dawn, too! God bless you, brother. Praying for you, always!

    1. Praying for you too little sister. Jesus loves you 🙂
      How are you?

      1. Oh, brother–I’m hanging in there. JESUS loves you, too (how precious!!). I’m going to give an update next week. Palliative care is stepping in to help me–pain management and other things. WOW. I’ll be headed to Maryland March 2nd-5th. MANY scans and tons of bloodwork. The weather, life, family, it’s a rollercoaster (good thing I love rides!). And YOU’RE right–no matter what, Jesus is with us.
I was down and sad for just a bit. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by pain. My oncologist visit on Thursday showed my liver enzymes a bit elevated. I’m sure from fighting everything. Once I feel it all, let it out, and take it to God, I can “see” clearer. Through it all, I’m blessed. I know that. Life is hard for all of us, brother. We all have our “crosses” to bear. But we can REST in the comfort of HIS presence and prying my mind away from my problems to …PRAY.
At times, it means I must go “quiet”. HE is our Shepherd and he will take care of us.
May HE guide you, protect you, and comfort you always, big brother. God bless you!!🤗

      2. Praying for you little sister.

      3. And you too, brother 🙏🏻🙏🏻

  2. Yep. We get the coaster weather two states south of you, but not as many big drops and double loops. Coaster life, however, is no respecter of anyone’s GPS location. 🙏❤️Thank you God! Your love reaches everywhere and everyone (who decides to take the ride.)

    1. It is a ride that is most worthwhile. No matter what weather we have in Nebraska or you have in Oklahoma. our winters can’t compare to where Gary lives lol

      1. Very true! Northern Minnesota might as well be another planet.

      2. I think it is actually which would make Gary an ET lol

  3. Amen. Sitting with Jesus, we embrace a rollercoaster ride without any dangers. His grace smooths out every curve and slope.

    1. Love that Jesus smooths out the curves in life

  4. I agree that life (and weather) can be a roller coaster. So glad we have Jesus through the ups and downs 🙏 … And Happy Birthday to Dawn! ♥️

    1. With Jesus the ride in this life has purpose 🙂

  5. It’s why I don’t even ride that contraption. I prefer the train ride to the next station replete with a loud screaming steam whistle letting everyone know Chuckster arrive!!

    1. Even on a train ride, there could be danger, so best to have Jesus with us

      1. If the Savior were to arrive on a train, the last would be first to board.

  6. “Used to” can be a tough discussion.

    1. Yes it can but can be fun too

  7. Thanks big brother for the birthday shout out! And I too am thankful for the love of Jesus. We can rely on Him always. ❤️

    1. You’re welcome little sister. Did you have a good birthday?
