Seeing reports that the Temporary Protected Status might be revoked for my Ukrainian friends is so disheartening. As of now, nothing has happened. It is just being reported by a few news outlets based on unnamed sources.
It is one thing to read about it. It is another issue altogether for me. The past three and a half years Jesus has given me the opportunity to befriend, help, minister to Ukrainians who fled the war.
I have gotten to know families, helped start a church, and spent much of my weekend time with my Ukrainian friends. For two years teaching English on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, and the past year and a half helping New Breath Church start and continue.
For me it is about the people, my friends, their life stories, their families, possibly being sent back to a country that is destroyed that is a heavy burden in my soul.
The children who remember the horrors of the war and finding safety, going to school, becoming Americanized, being forced to leave.
My heart is heavy. Please join me in praying for my Ukrainian friends.
