The other day while I was in line at the small market near my place, a man was trying several cards to see which one he had money available on. The cashier, a patient teen girl, was trying to help him. She is in high school and from what I can tell, has a difficult life.

The man looked at me and said, “she doesn’t know what she is doing.” I was not going to let that go. I looked at him and said, “You’re wrong. She knows what she is doing. You don’t. You are the one having a problem.” The young cashiers’ eyes had a look of surprise that someone stood up for her. The man looked away and said nothing.

It was a short simple encounter. But when I left the store, I remembered that last time I saw the cashier, I told her Jesus loves you. So I wonder if the timing of the man being a jerk and me speaking up for her was a bit of divine timing to water the seed of thought of Jesus loves you.

Daily interactions that might seem commonplace can be divine set ups if we are open to God leading us.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. We are the light of the world. As we shine our light the darkness flees, replaced by the light. of love of Jesus.

  2. great job sticking up for the cashier. It’s so sad when we have problems we are so ready to blame others.

    1. Thank you
It was so little for me to do but hopefully impacted her

  3. That is often how our Lord works

  4. Amen 🙏🏽 we need to actually take the time to ‘see’ people as the Lord sees them

    1. See people as the precious souls God sees

  5. Thank you for standing up for the cashier. So many others wouldn’t have. X

    1. It was a little thing for me to speak up hopefully it had a Godly impact on her

  6. It was so kind of you to stand up for her. None of us are perfect and she’s probably doing her best.

  7. Kudos to you for defending the cashier. Some people can be so rude and demanding. Employees get blamed for situations that aren’t their fault. We do tend to remember those who’ve been kind to us. It wouldn’t surprise me if that girl doesn’t remember what you told her, and recognized Christ’s love in action through you, during this recent encounter. I pray more opportunities present themselves, Matt!

    1. More opportunties are welcome. Blessings Nancy

  8. Glad you stood up for her. People can be so impatient and unkind at times.

    1. Unfortunately true people can be jerks but we can show the love of Jesus
