Last Saturday we looked at the prophecy by Isaiah, over 700 years before Jesus was born, about a virgin being with child. The child to be called Immanuel-God with us. It was the post For Unto Us- Birth of Jesus Foretold 700 Years Before.

In Isaiah 9, the prophet Isaiah revealed four aspects of Jesus. He wrote in Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Wonderful Counselor is the focus today. Countless confused souls over the centuries have come to know Jesus when their lives are in shambles. Even today in our so called ‘modern world’, people whose lives are in ruins come to know Jesus and see their lives restored.
Not only those whose lives are in ruins experience coming to Jesus as wonderful counselor. We all have an emptiness if we are honest. We search for meaning in all sorts of ways. That emptiness is the void that only God can fill because we were created to be in relationship with God.
Maybe you have felt like something that you cannot quite figure out is missing.
Life can get confusing. It can seem like things are going smoothly and then all of the sudden there is a job loss, a sickness, a family member or friend in trouble, a pandemic disrupting life. There are all kinds of problems in this life.
Jesus wants us to come to him. He invites us to do so. In Matthew 11 he said:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I love the song O Come to the Altar. I am sharing the video sung by Tauren Wells. Please listen to it an envision Jesus calling you to come to him with his arms open wide.
Thank you for reading. God Bless.
You’re right about life changing in an instant, Matt. A dear co-worker of mine just lost her mother in a tragic automobile accident. Her father, who was driving, is critically injured and also blaming himself for what happened. It is in times like these that we need our Wonderful Counselor (Jesus) more than ever! Please pray for my friend and co-worker. Her name is Sarah.
Prayed for her and her father
Thank you, brother.
Life is very unpredictable but our God is not. It’s only to Him can we run when life change overnight. Thanks for sharing
I am grateful he never changes and is always with us
