Tuesday evenings in my class we start by talking about the weekend and what each of us did. I had a box of tissues in my hand and told them something very sad happened on Sunday. My students looked at each other smiling expecting a funny story.

I shared about how my friend Luis and I went to an El Salvador restaurant for our lunch but it was closed due to the owner not showing up with the keys yet, so we could not pupusas an El Salvadoran food. I then offered the tissues but no takers. They were smiling and laughing which was the response I was hoping for.

They have been with me long enough to know their teacher likes to tell “stories” and jokes. They know my voice as a teacher.

Jesus spoke of his voice in John chapter 10 and how his sheep, those who believe in him, listen to his voice and follow him. in verses 14 and 15 he said:

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.”

The more time we spend with Jesus in prayer, reading the bible, and worship, the more we learn his voice and to follow his voice. He is our Good Shepherd who loves us so much that he died for us and defeated death for us.

Dear reader Jesus loves you and is calling to you.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. “Jesus is calling for you.” That’s a sobering thought! Can I hear His voice?

    1. I think you hear his voice as you visit the elderly and as you guide children.

      1. Thank you, brother. I can hear his voice, but I don’t want to miss a single message.

  2. The more time we spend with Him the more familiar He becomes. Learning to listen for His voice is truly important, especially in our present age when there’s so much noise masquerading as biblical truth. Thanks for this rich picture you painted.

    1. so true we need to spend time with him in these days of distractions
